Chapter 17
The Blackberry Jam Mishap on the Stone Table
Thursday, September 26th, 42nd Year of the Canopy

Pip and Clover stepped through the open brass archway into the mysterious golden chamber while their friends watched with bated breath, but a sudden accident inside the secret room threatened to halt their exploration.
The cozy secret room behind the brass archway was filled with quiet excitement as the group prepared to investigate the glowing chamber further. Clover stepped forward toward the smooth stone table where the shiny brass key rested, hoping to get a closer look at its clover-shaped handle. In her haste, however, her sleeve caught the edge of a small, leftover jar of blackberry jam brought in from the pantry days before.
The jar tipped over with a soft clatter, spilling a dark purple puddle that began to spread quickly across the smooth stone surface. It trickled perilously close to the open archway and the golden light beyond. As the sticky stream flowed swiftly and dripped onto the floorboards, Clover gasped in surprise and clutched her paws together.
There was no time to lose. Nutmeg dropped her acorn-shell teapot with a small clink and dived for the nearest moss cushion, while Bramble slid another soft dandelion-silk cushion into place right in the path of the purple tide. Together, the worried friends worked as fast as they could to soak up the spreading blackberry jam before it could reach the glowing golden chamber. With a few breathless moments of wiping and patting, the dark mess was safely contained, leaving the precious threshold clean once more—though the great adventure beyond the archway still waited for them to take the next step.
