1. Who this is

Aether Observer is currently run as an independent project rather than through a registered business entity. For anything covered here — questions, requests, or concerns — contact contact@aetherobserver.com.

2. Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, start a trial, or otherwise use Aether Observer. If you're under 15, we recommend using it with a parent or guardian's supervision. This applies regardless of any theme or setting available inside the product (including the “Kids” visual theme, which affects only the colours and styling of the reading experience, not who the product is intended for).

3. AI-generated content

Almost everything you read inside a world — events, records, suggestions — is generated by a third-party AI model, not written or reviewed by a person before you see it. AI-generated content can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or occasionally inappropriate despite the safeguards described below. It does not reflect the views, endorsement, or authorship of the person or people operating Aether Observer.

4. Acceptable use & content policy

You may not use Aether Observer to attempt to generate, request, or submit content that is illegal, or that any major AI provider's own safety policies prohibit — most importantly, and with zero exception regardless of fictional framing: any sexual content involving minors.

This is enforced in two independent ways: every AI provider this product uses has its own hard, non-configurable safety block on this category, and Aether Observer additionally checks submissions itself before they ever reach the AI. Attempts that are blocked are logged. Where a genuine, credible attempt to generate content involving the sexual exploitation of a minor is identified, it may be reported to the relevant authorities.

Ordinary dark or mature themes — war, violence, crime, horror, a hidden villain arc, and similar — are a normal, explicitly supported part of this product's storytelling genres and are not restricted by this policy on their own.

You're responsible for what you direct the AI to generate — the same as directing any other general-purpose AI tool directly. Don't use Aether Observer to closely reproduce or imitate a specific real, copyrighted work (a book, film, song, or similar). Story generation is powered by Google Gemini, and every event and record you generate is also subject to Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. We may remove content, and respond to legitimate infringement complaints, at our discretion.

5. Your content

You own everything in your worlds — what you originally write and submit (event descriptions, world names, and similar), and the events, records, and other content the AI generates from it. Deleting a world deletes its events, records, and recorded state permanently — there is no undo and no backup copy kept on your behalf.

6. Data collected

Aether Observer stores what you'd expect to make the product work: your account (via Clerk), the worlds/events/records you create, and basic usage metadata (timestamps, request counts) used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. No payment information is collected through the product itself. Donations made through the link on the Support page are handled entirely by PayPal, under PayPal's own terms — no payment details ever pass through or get stored by Aether Observer.

7. No warranty

Aether Observer is provided “as is,” during active development, with no guarantee of uptime, data retention, or fitness for any particular purpose. Features, pricing, and availability may change, including the free-to-use status described on the Support page, which applies only to this development phase.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated as the project develops. Continued use of Aether Observer after a change means you accept the updated terms.
