Chapter 23
The Robin on the Branch and the Tidy Evening
Thursday, September 26th, 42nd Year of the Canopy

Golden leaves danced past the secret room entrance as Pip, Bramble, Nutmeg, Clover, Barnaby, and Jasper shared tea, watching the acorn-cap lamps sway gently in the autumn breeze.
The Feathered Visitor
The warm afternoon sun shone brightly through the high branches of the ancient oak. Inside the cozy secret room behind the library scrolls, Pip, Bramble, Nutmeg, Clover, Barnaby, and Jasper enjoyed their warm dandelion tea and crisp hazelnut snacks. A soft tap echoed against the wooden wall near the hidden alcove. Everyone grew quiet and listened closely.
Nutmeg tiptoed across the smooth stone floor and peered through a tiny knot-hole in the bark. Outside on a sunlit branch sat a friendly young robin. The bird chirped a merry greeting before fluttering away into the golden canopy, leaving the group smiling and chatting softly about the bright autumn morning.
Inspired by the visit, Bramble the hedgehog and Barnaby the mouse ventured out onto the sunlit outer branch. They chirped a sweet greeting tune, inviting the little bird to share in a crumb of toasted hazelnut. The robin tilted its head cheerfully, creating a moment of simple warmth before flitting away into the golden autumn sky, leaving Bramble and Barnaby with big grins as they crawled back inside.
Evening Chores in the Hideout
With the excitement of the robin's visit settling down, the friends began to wind down their afternoon gathering. Nutmeg and Clover took charge of tidying up the cozy hideout.
They carefully gathered the tiny acorn cups and smooth stone plates. They wiped down the smooth stone table and placed the tiny acorn-shell teapot safely back in its niche behind the library scrolls. Every little cup and saucer was put back in its proper place, ensuring everything was neat and clean for the evening ahead.
As the golden light outside began to fade into deep orange and purple shades, the friends curled up together on the soft moss cushions. They wondered what quiet discoveries tomorrow might bring in the great oak tree.
