Silence Before the Fault Line

Following Bram's unheeded warnings about resonant tracking, tensions within the abandoned storage alcove finally reached a boiling point. Kaelen stepped directly into Vane's path, his armor clanking sharply against the damp rock as he slammed his hand against the stone wall, demanding an immediate halt to any further attunement of the obsidian pendant. The knight's face was tight with absolute rejection, convinced that tampering with the artificial grid's frequency would bring the fractured load-bearing arches down upon their heads.

Vane pushed back just as sharply, fueled by a relentless curiosity and the haunting, clear directions whispering from the dark glass artifact. They argued that hesitation would only keep them permanently trapped beneath the eternal gloom of the surface clouds. Their bitter shouting match echoed off the cold masonry, silencing Lyra and Bram as they watched the fragile alliance strain to its absolute breaking point, exposing ideological fractures that threatened to tear the companions apart before they ever reached the master control valve.

As the confrontation threatened to boil over into physical violence, Thalia stepped into the breach. Channeling a low-frequency damping spell through the obsidian pendant, she cut off their shouting match with an eerie, absolute quiet. The sudden, unnatural vacuum of sound smothered their angry words mid-air, compelling both men to cool their heels on opposite sides of the alcove. Left to brood in enforced silence, the party settled into a tense, uneasy truce, waiting out the hours while the weight of the dark vaults pressed down upon them from above.
