Chapter 11
Sunlight and Dry Moss in the Secret Room
Thursday, September 26th, 42nd Year of the Canopy

Pip and Nutmeg rushed over to help Bramble right his tipped moss chair, discovering a damp leak near the western wall that threatened their cozy hideout.
Moving the Chair and Patching the Floor
Morning sunlight filtered through the old oak leaves into the secret room. Bramble the hedgehog and Pip the mouse looked down at the soggy patch of floor moss where Bramble's chair had tipped over the day before. The little spot near the western wall was still quite damp, making the green moss sink and feel squishy underfoot.
Bramble made a careful decision to move his custom-fitted moss chair a little closer to the smooth stone table, away from the damp wall. Pip scurried off for a moment and came back carrying dry, fluffy moss from the library trunk. Together, working with steady paws, they began to patch the wet spot with the fresh, dry moss to make their cozy hideout safe and comfortable again.
Opening the Library Window
A short distance away in the main part of the treehouse, Nutmeg and Clover were busy helping with the morning chores. They climbed up to the tall library window and pushed the heavy wooden shutters open wide.
Warm autumn sunlight streamed straight inside, cutting through the shadows and reaching deep into the treehouse hollow. Nutmeg and Clover stood together in the gentle breeze, watching the bright golden sunbeams warm the damp patch near the secret room's western wall so Bramble would have a nice, dry place to sit for their next gathering. They smiled as the fresh air chased away the chill, wondering what other pleasant surprises the changing autumn weather might bring to their wooden home.
