Chapter 21
Songs and Roasted Hazelnuts in the Secret Room
Thursday, September 26th, 42nd Year of the Canopy

A friendly squirrel named Jasper poked his head out of the tunnel, drawn by the lovely humming sound echoing through the lower tree roots to see what was happening inside the secret room.
The Dandelion Tea Song
The secret room was safe and warm. Glowing acorn-cap lamps cast a soft golden light over the smooth stone table and the green moss chairs. Pip picked up the tiny acorn-shell teapot. He poured a steaming cup of warm dandelion tea for Clover. As they sat together on their soft moss cushions, they softly hummed a cheerful little tune about counting acorns on the big oak tree. The sweet music brought a happy feeling to the cozy hideout.
Soon, the cheerful sound of the counting song echoed softly through the chamber. Jasper stepped out from the curved tunnel opening. He wagged his bushy tail and hummed right along with the melody. Clover politely scooped over on her moss cushion. She handed Jasper a tiny acorn cup filled with warm dandelion tea. The group welcomed their new friend with bright smiles, and the cozy secret room filled with joyful chatter and song.
The Hazelnut Sneeze
Bramble wanted to add something special to the impromptu tea party. He scurries over to his moss-lined corner and brings back a small birch-bark pouch. He tips it gently, sprinkling roasted hazelnut bits onto the smooth stone table for all his friends to enjoy. The nutty smell drifted through the air.
Barnaby leaned in a bit too close to smell the tasty treats. A puff of fine nutty dust tickled his nose. He let out a sudden, squeaky 'Achoo!' that sent the tiny beetles scattering across the amber floor. Everyone giggled at the funny surprise, passing around the roasted bits while the music from the tunnel below seemed to hum a quiet goodnight.
