Tides of Iron and Sound
Late Summer of the 16th Year of the Obsidian Tide
As accelerating geothermal pressure forced Clan Vane to abandon flooded installations in the eastern valleys, the Obsidian Pact found itself increasingly strained by its own volatile territory.
Watchers on the Granite Heights
Along the storm-battered Atani Coast, the marine priests braved gale-swept granite heights to monitor the ominous bioluminescent pulses rising from the deep trenches, working tirelessly to maintain the sound-dampening wards against growing tectonic vibrations.
High on the exposed cliffs, the priests maintained a continuous visual and acoustic watch over the churning, dark waters below. As sickly green bioluminescence flared from the abyssal depths, signaling another violent spasm of the awakening entity, the priests hastily adjusted the heavy bronze acoustic arrays bolted directly into the cliffside. Every adjustment was a desperate bid to mask surface vibrations and keep the monstrous shapes in the deep from fixing their blind senses upon the shore.
Forging the Fleet and the Forest
Far to the west within the clanging municipal foundries of Oakhaven, Master Artificer Vaelen directed a frantic crew of apprentice smiths in forging miniaturized sonic-repulsion coils. Despite the simmering dockside counter-embargo and taxation tensions levied by independent skiff captains, the overwhelming pressure to equip every patrol vessel with reliable anti-leviathan countermeasures drove the artisans to work late through the night, pouring molten bronze and meticulously tuning the acoustic frequencies.
Meanwhile, seeking to bypass compromised supply routes and secure steady fuel for the southern Obsidian Pact depots, a seasoned woodcutter named Joran led a fresh contingent of laborers into the misty highland borderlands. Arriving with an independent party of fellers and beast-handlers in the highland fringes, Joran immediately set the group to work clearing space for a provisional timber camp, pitching canvas shelters and carving out fresh logging trails amidst the damp pines. Yet as the axes fell and the bronze coils cooled, the distant tremors from the eastern valleys and the deep trenches served as a constant reminder that these fragile footholds hung by a thread.
