The Big Fern Hug and the Chilly Wind
Year 1 of the Rainbow Era, Spring Late Afternoon
Blossom's soft green clover hat gets stuck on a prickly berry branch while Chloe and Pip chase it through the wet meadow grass, leading up to a quiet moment under the open sky.
A sudden cold wind blows across the sunny meadow. Chloe hugs her arms tight because her pink shirt feels thin. Her star daisy crown flickers with soft rainbow colors as the chill air brushes past. Pip and Blossom quickly tuck themselves close under the big green fern leaf to stay warm and safe from the breeze.
The cold wind blows hard across the grass. Chloe wraps her arms around her tummy and feels a little cold. Pip and Blossom pull their knees up close. They sit very still under the big green fern leaf until the cold breeze stops, waiting to see what fun game they can play next when the warm sun comes back out.
