Subterranean Breach, Straits Skirmish, and Foothill Mutiny
Late Winter of the 16th Year of the Obsidian Tide
As coastal vessels sortied out to establish coordinated patrols along the western sea lanes, the archipelago braced itself, knowing the fragile calm holding the realm together was rapidly wearing thin.
The Vaults of Ironhollow and the Western Straits
Deep beneath the rebellious enclave of Ironhollow, Master metal-carver Corin Vance and his syndicate laborers miscalculated the pneumatic pressure of the sealed pre-tribal chambers. Working with newly acquired tungsten dies and illicit cold-forging tools, Corin had been racing against time to manufacture heavy-duty locking mechanisms. As the primary basalt slab unlatched, a wave of superheated gas and ancient hydraulic grinding echoed through the bedrock. To prevent dormant mechanical automata from spilling into the insurgent tunnels, the crew was forced into a frantic struggle to weld shut the heavy locking bars from the inside, fighting the hissing pressure and the metal groans of waking constructs before the seal completely gave way.
Meanwhile, out in the icy coastal waters near Oakhaven, Captain Kaelen's defense coalition faced a very different crisis. The newly deployed sonic-repulsion engines—ratified through emergency defense decrees alongside merchant guilds—produced an unexpected and terrifying side effect. Instead of merely deterring the blind predators, the specific frequency bands enraged a pack of territorial serpentine leviathans. Captain Kaelen's patrol galleys were thrust into a desperate running battle across the outer maritime choke points, utilizing heavy bronze sound-emitters to deflect lunging, scaled beasts while struggling to safeguard vital merchant supply lines against total disruption.
Mutiny at the Red Ridge Foothills
Far from the crashing surf and the subterranean vaults, the humanitarian crisis at the base of the Red Ridge escarpment finally boiled over. With mountain passes choked by severe winter gales and sulfurous ash plumes battering the tent encampments, prolonged supply line failures and meager rations drove displaced valley farming communities to their absolute breaking point. Refusing to endure another night of freezing starvation, the desperate refugees surged forward and clashed with Obsidian Pact quartermasters. Overwhelming the regional distribution storehouses, the mutinous crowds shattered the fragile rear-line stability of the alliance, leaving the mountain foothills torn apart by open riots and widespread supply seizures.
