Cookies and a Wobble on the Moss
Wednesday, September 25th, 42nd Year of the Canopy
While Pip, Bramble, and Nutmeg enjoy their secret tea party, Clover the rabbit hears soft giggles coming from behind the library trunk and stops to investigate the open brass archway.
Clover the rabbit taps gently on the old library trunk and peeks through the open brass archway. Inside, Pip the mouse, Bramble the hedgehog, and Nutmeg the squirrel look up with wide eyes from their flat stone table. Nutmeg smiles warmly and waves her little acorn-shell teapot. Clover squeezes through the small door and sits down on a smooth pebble stool. They pour warm dandelion tea into tiny acorn cups and share sweet berry biscuits together.
Clover sits down on a smooth pebble next to Nutmeg and opens a small woven pouch she brought from home. Inside are four sweet acorn cookies dusted with golden pollen. She hands one to Pip, one to Bramble, one to Nutmeg, and keeps the last one for herself. The friends munch happily in the warm glow of the acorn-cap lamps while chatting about the day and listening to the soft rustle of the great oak leaves outside.
While reaching across the flat stone table for another sip of tea, Bramble leans a little too far to the left. His pebble stool tilts sideways on a tiny bump in the floor, and he tumbles gently onto the soft moss rug with a soft giggle. Pip and Nutmeg laugh kindly and help him right the little stone seat. They brush a speck of dust off his spines and pour him a fresh cup of warm tea as the afternoon sunshine begins to slant softly through the high branches of the treehouse village.
